Character Development – Prince Cedric “Crix” Wellborn
1 - Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
Cedric was always on good terms with his father, King Charles Wellborn, King of the kingdom of Cerulia, and his mother, Queen Eleanor Wellborn. He and his brother, Prince Broad Wellborn, were trained well to embrace their psionic abilities. They were both brought up right, respectful, honor bound, and civilized. His parents were always a major part in his life.
2 - What are your character’s most prominent physical features?
Cedric is tall and slender, but not skinny per say. But the two main things are his almost glowing green eyes, as well as his flowing locks of golden hair, that can be compared to the golden wheat fields of Cerulia.
3 - How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
My character hasn’t found much time to think about how he looks, but he has always been attracted to girls of various races and species, but he often doesn’t have the time or courage to act on such attractions.
4 - What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale?
Cedric is a 0 on the Kinsey scale. He has nothing against those that prefer the same gender, but he really only finds himself noticing those girls that he cant find the courage to confront.
5 - Describe your character’s happiest memory.
The story of Cedric’s first kiss. He was in his kingdoms primary school for upper class children, he was about 12. Every day he would walk back to the castle with his brother broad, who is a year older. But one day, he and his brother were playing hid and seek after class, and he decided to go hide towards the shore, where a good amount of the lower class citizens live. As he was hiding in the back of a bread merchant’s cart, he didn’t notice that there was already someone in there. A young girl, with black hair and beautiful green eyes. She was taking as many loafs of bread as she could, when Cedric said
“Hey, are you taking those?”
“Yeah.” She replied blatantly.
“Those aren’t yours! Why are you taking them?”
“Because I’m hungry. I have no money for food, so I steal to survive.”
“I’m going to tell a guard and-“
Before Cedric could finish his sentence she leaned in and kissed him. He was stunned. The girl just giggled and left the cart. That was the first and only time Cedric ever saw that girl, but after that day, he confronted his parents in an attempt to help get more food to the poor of the kingdom, and to lower taxes overall.
6 - Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?
No there is not. Cedric believes that all events happen for a reason, good or bad, just as all psionics do.
7 - Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?
Cedric had no scars except for the slight remnants of a bite mark on his neck… from a werewolf. He was bitten and came down with the curse of becoming such a beast. After training long and hard after such an ordeal, he has learned to control the beast inside rather well. He uses it to his advantage in certain situations where he needs to decimate his foes in close quarters.
8 - Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?
Coffee flavored ice cream has always been Cedric’s favorite, even though he does not necessarily like the drink itself. His favorite color is a deep shade of Purple, with Cerulean coming in a close second. His favorite song is the first bard song he ever heard on his travels, Skalds and Shadows (real song, blind guardian, look it up). His favorite flower is the white rose, for how pure and untainted it is.
9 - Who does your character trust?
Cedric trusts his parents and his trainer from home, but most of all he trusts his brother, Broad Wellborn, Heir to the throne, future king of Cerulia. The two know everything about one another, and
Cedric would want it no other way.
10 - Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.
When Cedric’s father, the king, told Cedric that he and Broad would have to voyage out to adventure not only to gain life experience, but also to compete for who would be king next. At that moment, Cedric knew he did not want to be king. Privately he addressed this with his father, but his father told him to hold his tongue, For if Broad was to become king un opposed, he still wanted him to prove himself. Cedric went along with his fathers plan and it worked flawlessly, showing Broads true colors of leadership and natural born talent.
11 - Is there an animal you equate with your character?
I would have to say somewhat of a sly fox that likes its distance, but knows how to come in for the kill. But he is also comparable to a wolf, for obvious reasons.
12 - How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?
He has no time for an inventor’s technology, unless it has to do with psionic magic. But he never wastes time with letters, and sends his messages via his sending ritual, that lets him speak to anyone on his plane telepathically.
13 - What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?
He used to sleep very well on his purple silken bed, he would go to sleep, not move the whole night, and wake up in the same spot, completely rested. But in turn of recent events, lets say he often awakes to shredded sheets and bitten pillows…
14 - How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?
He is fine in extreme heat, Cerulia gets VERY warm in the summers, and he can fare decent amounts of cold, up to snow temperatures, but if it nearing blizzard temperatures, he chills to the bone, making it hard for him to function out in the open.
15 - Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?
Early bird. You can get so much more done in the morning than at night, because of the sunlight and all. And if you need more time, you can always push into the night to avoid sleep, you cant exactly rewind the day.
16 - Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative?
Gavin, his Psion trainer is the closest thing he has ever come to having an uncle. He was always wise and all knowing, always seemed to have the right answer when any question arose. But other than Gavin no, it was only just Cedric, Broad, and his parents.
17 - What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy?
His desk at home was pretty much spotless, but that was because he really never had paper work to do ever, but his new office at the psychic adepts has been cluttered since he got there, there are so many laws to review, experiments to approve or deny, so much just… work. If it wasn’t for his father coming in to help at the beginning the psychic adepts may have even fallen apart.
18 - Is your character a good cook? What’s their favorite recipe, whether they’re good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.)
Cedric grew up eating any type of food imaginable, A) because his parents were king and queen and B) because he never had to cook! He can cook meat and make it edible, but that’s the extent of his culinary knowledge. He has eaten many meals, but nothing can beat the seafood of his homeland. His favorite dish being a tie between shrimp scampi and a large lobster tail. Or you could just say his favorite dish is both together.
19 - What’s your character’s preferred means of travel?
He is fine with horseback and carriages, but he would take a longer voyage by any type of boat over any type of land travel. He grew up not only near, but ON the sea as well.
20 – Does your character have any irrational fears?
As not only a prince, but also someone decently attractive, many believe he should not have this fear, but his biggest irrational fear is dieing alone, without a wife. His shyness towards girls really affects him, and its something he just cant shake.
21 - What would your character’s cutie mark be?
It would probably be an open purple eye with a cerulean iris, for those are his favorite colors, and the eye is the symbol of the psychic adepts.
22 - If your character could time travel, where would they go?
He wouldn’t go far back in time to prevent any great wars, or to warn a civilization of an oncoming natural disaster; he would go back to the day he played hide and seek with his brother, to learn who the girl with the black hair and green eyes was.
23 - Is your character superstitious?
I wouldn’t call him superstitious, but he believes in his god of order and civilization, and he believes in what he sees. If he hears that there are ghosts in the mountains, he goes to the mountains to see the ghosts. He is a “gotta see it to believe it” kinda guy, but he often does not voice his skepticism in order to not offend people.
24 - What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be?
Someone who is just always there whenever he needs him, someone who never judges his decisions, someone who loves him for him. You know, the perfect girl, that’s all….
25 - Describe your character’s hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby?
They are extremely average. They are the average young mans hands. The only thing special is that since he became part werewolf, the veins in his hands have become a bit darker, as well as a bit on is for arms, but it fades away by his elbows. It is rather peculiar.
26 - Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday.
His favorite comfort food is easily shrimp cocktail, favorite vice is drinking (he can get pretty rowdy), hot chocolate by far is his favorite warm drink, favorite time of year is summer, and his favorite holiday is the festival of the sea harvest. The festival of the sea harvest takes place at the end of spring, and it is when the fishing is at the peak of the year. The food is so plentiful that some fishermen just give it away some years. Not a stomach goes unfilled that day.
27 - Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them.
The Animal by Disturbed due to the fact that he can barely control who he is becoming. And More Than a Feeling by Boston when he ran into the mystery girl in his youth.
28 - If your character’s life was a genre, what would it be?
Dramatic action, if that is an answer. He has seen many highs and lows in his kingdom, but with his quest to prove himself, he has had many near death experiences. Cedric now realized that his life is going to only get increasingly more difficult from here.
29 - How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne?
Cedric himself would say that he does not have a scent, but everyone says later that he smells of the beach, the shore near his home. That smell will probably stay with him for as long as he lives.
30 - Write a letter to your character, from yourself.
Cedric, you have no idea who I am, and it doesn’t matter. You are an amazing leader, never forget that. You have been blessed with so much; so don’t let that spoil you, even at this late age. You must keep training. I know you are powerful now, but you have no idea the amount of power you can achieve with persistence and further training. I’m proud of you for knowing what you want to do with your life and acting on it. You denied being king because you didn’t want to be, that takes guts. Some people go though life-doing things they don’t want to, only because people see that as better, and there is nothing worse than that. I have to go now Cedric, but hey, have a little confidence towards the ladies man. ;)
(I am a writer, and i love all that its fantasy. I made this SO long ago, so i finally decided to share it haha)
Two D&D references in Full Metal Jousting.
Flipping ugh. I could not love this show any more if I tried.
“You’re rolling the dice, and the DM is on your side.”
And then right after that, double unhorsing.
“We both rolled the dice, and came up critical.”
Ten reasons to love your DM
- Hand-crafting an adventure around your characters to make sure everyone has a good time.
- He’s DMing, not playing. He probably would want to play.
- He’s the one who has to remember all the rules.
- He keeps track of your stats, and everyone else’s.
- You forgot your dice? He’s got more!
- Nothing’s ever the end of the campaign.
- Everyone’s the hero
- Forgot your character sheet? He didn’t!
- He pays for a DDi account.
- No rocks fall, everyone dies
#2 is very true. Appreciate! =P
